A temperate biome, the Chaparral environment can be found in arid coastal areas where there is a large range of temperatures. Comprising only five percent of the world's surface area, the Chaparral biome can be found in small amounts in five regions around the world, yet it is home to over 20,000 unique species. It is characterised by rocky hills and dry plains.
